Terrier group of dogs have the curiosity to find and kill the mammalian pests live under the soil. The origin of the word terrier comes from the meaning of terra which means world/soil. Some of the terrier breeds were raised to kill rats in old times, then they were used to fight with each other. Terrier group has two unique sub groups, short and long legged terriers. Being large to go under ground, Airdale terrier is one of the most popular dog breed in this group. They are strong, stubborn and great watchdogs.
